Men’s Volleyball Prepares for Final Road Trip of Regular Season

Titans will face Augustana College Saturday, April 1

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team will travel to Rock Island, Ill. Saturday, April 1, for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin battle against Augustana College. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. inside Roy J. Carver Arena. 

Illinois Wesleyan (10-13, 1-7 CCIW) enters the contest off a sweep over North Park University Wednesday, March 29. Junior Michael Eastman (Chicago, Ill.-Saint Ignatius) led the Green and White with 11 kills, while junior Julian Perez (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) and sophomore Ryan Myers (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.-Stevenson) each recorded seven. Myers led the Titans with a career-best 13 digs. 

Eastman has produced 218 kills through 74 sets this season, good for an average of 2.95 kills per set, and also leads the Titans with 29 aces, an average of 0.39 aces per set. Sophomore Vince DiCosola (Aurora, Ill.-Oswego East) leads the team in assists with 367. 

Defensively, DiCosola has recorded a team-best 114 digs, while Eastman sits right behind with 110. Sophomore Jake Kougan (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) leads the net defense with 38 total blocks, while Perez has 36. Perez enters the match Saturday sitting at 99 total blocks in his career, as he looks to be the first player in program history to break the century mark. 

The Vikings (10-10, 1-6 CCIW) enter the contest off a three-set loss over No. 7 North Central Sunday, March 26. This will be the second meeting this season between the Titans and the Vikings, sixth all-time. Augustana holds a 4-1 advantage in the series, including the most recent win on March 11, 2023, as the Vikings took down IWU in three sets.
