Men’s Volleyball Heads North for Match Against No. 6 Carthage College

Action set to begin at 3 p.m. inside Tarble Arena

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team will head north to Kenosha, Wis. to take on No. 6 Carthage College Saturday, March 25 for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin weekend matchup. Action is set to begin at 3 p.m. inside Tarble Arena.

IWU (9-12, 0-6 CCIW) enters the match after falling in four sets to No. 7 North Central College Wednesday night, March 22. Junior Michael Eastman (Chicago, Ill.-Saint Ignatius) recorded a team-best 12 kills, while adding seven digs and an ace. 

Carthage enters the match after falling to Dominican University in four sets Thursday, March 23, falling to 13-5 overall with a 5-1 CCIW record. This will mark the sixth meeting between the Titans and Firebirds. Carthage has won all five, including the most recent battle March 4, 2023, defeating the Titans in straight sets.

Eastman has led the offense all season, as he has recorded 204 kills in 68 sets played, good for an average of 3.00 kills per set, and has a team-best 27 aces. Sophomore Vince DiCosola (Aurora, Ill.-Oswego East) leads the Titans with 333 assists. 

Defensively, DiCosola has a team-high 108 digs for an average of 1.59 digs per set. Sophomore Jake Kougan (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) leads the net defense with 38 blocks, followed by junior Julian Perez's (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) 33. Perez is nearing the century mark in career blocks, as his total entering Saturday sits at 96.
