BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After dropping all three doubles matches, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team began to mount a comeback in singles action, but the deficit was too much to erase, as the Titans fell, 6-3, to Carthage College Saturday morning, Oct. 7. With the loss, IWU falls to 5-5 overall, 1-5 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play, while Carthage moves to 2-3 overall, and 2-3 in league play.

After coming up just short in doubles action, dropping No. 1 pairs 8-7 (4), freshmen Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) and Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) came back to take No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Ehrlich took both sets, 6-1, while Bell edged out her battle, winning with set scores 3-6, 6-0 (10-7).

Sophomore Kate Christian (Washington, Ill.-Washington Community) picked up the victory at No. 2 singles, also using all three sets to do so, scraping past her Firebird opponent, 0-6, 6-3 (10-8).

The Titans have a quick turnaround, as they host Carroll University Sunday, Oct. 8. First serve is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Evergreen Racquet Club.
