Titans run win streak to three

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - For the second time in as many days, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team secured a victory, taking down College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe Elmhurst University, 7-2, Wednesday, Oct. 4. With the win, the Titans improve to 5-4 overall, and pick up their first CCIW victory since Oct. 16, 2021, moving to 1-4 on the season.

Freshmen Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) and Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) opened the match with an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles. Freshman Carly Edwards (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) and junior Andie Wilson (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial) gave the Green and White a 2-1 advantage in paired play, picking up the win at No. 3 doubles, 8-1.

In singles action, the Titans saw wins at No. 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6. Ehrlich notched the victory at No. 1, taking her sets 6-1, 6-4. Sophomore Kate Christian (Washington, Ill.-Washington Community) used all three sets at No. 2 singles to claim victory, finishing with set scores 4-6, 6-4, 10-4. Bell secured the win for IWU, as she got the victory at No. 3 singles with set scores 6-3, 7-5. Edwards added a win at No. 5 singles, winning both sets 6-4, while Wilson closed out the match with a victory at No. 6 singles with sets scores of 6-0, 6-1.

The Titans stay at home, as they host Carthage College and Carroll University Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 7-8. The match against Carthage is slated for a 10 a.m. start Saturday, while Sunday's match against Carroll will begin at 9 a.m. Both matches will be played at Evergreen Racquet Club.
