Women's Soccer Falls in CCIW Quarterfinal

Titans drop contest 3-0 to Carroll

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team succumbed to Carroll University, 3-0, in a quarterfinal match of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament Saturday, Oct. 28. 

Illinois Wesleyan slipped to a 3-13-2, 2-5-1 CCIW record on the year as Carroll climbed to 10-5-3, 4-1-3  CCIW. The Titans trailed 20-4 in shots and 5-0 in corner kick opportunities.  Freshman goalkeeper Adriana Ruffolo (Bloomingdale, Ill.-Glenbard North) recorded seven saves on the day while Carroll's keeper had two. 

Junior Madalyn Buxton (Springfield, Ill.-Pleasant Plains) led the Green and White in shots with two, while junior Tegan Timerman (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) and sophomore Sawyer White (Downers Grove, Ill.-Montini Catholic) each had one. 

The Titans held off the Pioneers until just before the first half ended as Carroll notched its first goal of the game in the 45th minute of play to lead 1-nil heading to halftime. The Pioneers would eventually pick up two additional goals in the second half at the 49th and 75th minute-marks to oust the Titans from the tournament.

The 3-0 setback marked the end of the Green and White's season, while Carroll will advance to the semifinals Wednesday, Nov. 1.
