Women’s Tennis Completes Fall Season

Titans fall, 9-0, to Wheaton

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - In the fall season finale, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team fell to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe Wheaton College, 9-0, Friday night, Oct. 13. With the loss, the Titans move to 5-7 overall, 1-7 in CCIW action, while Wheaton improves to 7-2 overall, 6-1 in league play.

Doubles action saw some close battles as freshmen Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) and Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) applied pressure to the Thunder's No. 1 pair, ultimately falling 8-4. The sophomore duo of Kate Christian (Washington, Ill.-Washington Community) and Raji More (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) also put up a hard-fought battle, dropping No. 2 doubles 8-5.

In singles action, Ehrlich stole four points in the opening set at No. 1 singles, but Wheaton's Madeline Gentry ended the freshman's five-match win streak in individual action, with final set scores of 6-4, 6-0. Freshman Carly Edwards (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) put up a fight at No. 5 singles, also taking four points but ultimately fell 6-3, 6-1.

The Titans will enjoy the rest of 2023 off before returning to the courts in 2024. Illinois Wesleyan will take a spring break trip before hosting the CCIW Championships at Evergreen Racquet Club Thursday-Saturday, April 25-27.
