Men’s Soccer readies to take on North Park

Kick off set for 3:30 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After a nail-biting victory against Millikin Univsersity earlier in the week, the Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team is ready to take on No. 1 in the conference, North Park University Saturday, Oct. 14. Kick off will start at 3:30 p.m. and wil be played on Neis Feild. 

Junior Logan Shumaker (Decatur, Ill.-Mount Zion) had the game-winning goal against Millikin University this past Wednesday, Oct. 11. The Decatur, Ill. native was in his hometown when in the 88th minute he helped the Titans secure the lead to win the match 2-1. Earlier in the game, fellow junior Eli Warren (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahomet Seymour) scored on a footrace to the goal putting it right past the goalie. The Titans are going into Saturday's match 4-4-3 and are 2-1-2 in conference. North Park's last matchup was a 1-1 tie against the No. 5 nationally ranked North Central College. The Viking's go into tomorrow's match 8-3-2 and are 3-0-1 in conference play. 

The Titans leading scorers are freshman Faheem Mujahid (St. Robert, Mo.-Waynesville) with four goals on the season and senior Sasha Tylnyy (Wheeling, Ill.-Buffalo Grove) and Warren are tied for second with two goals on the season. Sam Kedzior (Cary, Ill.-Cary Grove) holds his spot as the leading goalkeeper in the conference in all four categories. He leads in shutouts per game (4), goals against average (.607), saves (.897), and saves per game (4.73). 

The Titans and the Vikings have met a total of 37 times dating back to 1988. The Green and White's record with the Vikings are 8-27-2 with the last matchup being a 1-nil loss on Oct. 15, 2022. 

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at Neis Field and will follow the women's 1 p.m. match. The livestats can be found here, and the live stream can be found here.
