NAPERVILLE, Ill. - A monster week at the plate landed Illinois Wesleyan University softball senior catcher Hayley Earl (Washington, Ill.-Washington) College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Hitter of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday, April 5. It is the first weekly conference award of her career.

Earl fueled the Titans to a 3-0 record at their home tournament, April 2-3. She hit a blistering .636 at the plate, recording a team-high seven hits over the three-game stretch. She scored three runs, drove in seven more, notched three doubles, and cranked a walk-off home run. Earl's weekend included a slugging percentage of 1.182 and a hefty .636 on-base percentage, while she did not record a strikeout.

She began the weekend with a perfect 4-for-4 outing in a 9-0 win over Chicago, April 2. Earl finished with five RBIs, driving in at least one run on each of her four hits, while scoring twice. She blasted a walk-off two-run homer to end the game in six innings. She followed that with a 2-for-3 showing against Whitewater, then two-RBI game in IWU's second win over Chicago.

Defensively, Earl played all 20 innings at catcher without yielding a stolen base. She guided the IWU pitching staff to a three-game earned run average of 0.70 as the Titan pitchers held the opposition to a batting average of .176. For the weekend, she played a role in 10 of IWU's 20 runs scored.

Earl and the Titans open up conference play on the road this weekend as IWU travels to Wheaton College for a doubleheader Saturday, April 9.
