Palczynski, Mardjetko Sweep CCIW Weekly Awards

Second time IWU has swept awards this season

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - For the second time this season, the Illinois Wesleyan University softball team swept the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin weekly awards as announced by the league office Tuesday, April 26. Senior Colleen Palczynski (Mt. Prospect, Ill.-Prospect) was tabbed the CCIW's Hitter of the Week, while junior Nina Mardjetko (Lemont, Ill.-Lemont) was selected as the league's Pitcher of the Week. 

Tuesday's announcement marked the third honor in Palczynski's career, while Mardjetko garnered it for the second time. 

Palczynski batted .600 over a two-game span with four runs, two homers, four RBIs, two walks and a 1.800 slugging percentage for the Titans last week. She finished 1-for-3 with one run, one home run and three RBI in one game and then was 2-for-2 with three runs, two walks, one home run and one RBI in a 4-0 shutout against Carthage. She finished the week with a .714 on-base percentage. 

Mardjetko recorded her first career no-hitter in a 4-0 shutout against Carthage, April 23. She threw her second complete-game shutout and struck out the final batter of the game. It was the first Titan no-hitter since Ally Wiegand on Feb. 20, 2020.
