Men’s Volleyball Wraps Up 2022 Campaign with Five-Set Thriller Versus Vikings

Titans conclude season with 8-15 record

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team dropped its season finale to North Park University in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play Saturday night, April 2, at the Shirk Center. The Titans fell to the Vikings by set scores of 27-29, 27-25, 25-23, 16-25, and 15-13.

Freshman Ryan Myers (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.-Stevenson) and Michael Eastman (Chicago, Ill.-St. Ignatius) posted monster offensive games. Myers hit an outstanding .452 with a career-high 18 kills on 31 attempts, while Eastman went for a game-high 20 kills on a .300 clip. Eastman completed a double-double with a team-high 11 digs to go along with three aces and two blocks. 

Sophomore Bradley Benson (Lemont, Ill.-Lemont) registered 29 assists, with freshman Vince DiCosola (Aurora, Ill.-Oswego East) contributing 16 and a team-high four aces. 

As a team, Illinois Wesleyan held a 62 to 48 advantage in kills as the Titans hit .199 for the match to the Vikings' .144 clip. IWU was credited with 10 blocks to NPU's four, while both teams finished with seven aces. North Park edged the Green and White in digs, 61-56.

The Titans finished the season with an 8-15 overall record, including a 3-9 CCIW mark. With a team full of freshmen and sophomores, IWU is set to return all 15 players on this year's roster.
