BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse travels to Rock Island, Ill. for its last regular-season road game Wednesday, April 13. The Titans will face College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opponent Augustana College for a 7:30 p.m. start. Half way through the conference schedule and with only three CCIW games left, IWU is the only team who has not been defeated during league play.

The Titans (7-4, 3-0 CCIW) enjoyed a 24-8 win over Carthage College Saturday, April 9. Against the Cardinals, the Kiichle brothers also paved the way for the Titans against the Cardinals. Juniors Carson Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview) and Connor Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview) tallied seven and six points, respectively. Carson Kiichle recorded one goal and six assists as Connor Kiichle grabbed three goals and three assists. Augustana (8-3, 1-1 CCIW) just clinched its first league win of the season after a close battle against North Central College, April 9, as the Vikings edged the Cardinals, 7-6.

The all-time series between IWU and AC is in favor of the Titans, 8-2. Wednesday's game marks the 11th all-time meeting. Augie got out in front, winning the first two games against the Titans, both during the 2015 season. In 2016, the Green and White took its first victory over the Vikings during regular season play, April 28, and in the CCIW Tournament during the semifinal match, May 4.

Ever since that 2016 season, the Titans have been successful against the Vikings and hold an eight-game winning streak. IWU have also kept Augie to under 10 goals in the last six meetings. Most recently, in the 2021 season, the Green and White opened conference play against the Vikings where IWU went on to win 14-8 and continued its untouched CCIW record.

IWU has been led by multiple Titans this season, including senior Rick Smith (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln Way East), who was named the CCIW Offensive Player of the Week, April 11. Smith holds the team-lead in goals and points with 35 and 47, respectively. He currently sits second in the CCIW in goals per game with 3.18 and third in points per game with 4.27. Carson Kiichle holds the team-high in assists this season with 21, the Vancouver, Wash. native has also notched 10 goals for a total of 31 points.
