LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University softball team returns to action after an extended hiatus with a trip to Lake Forest College Tuesday, March 15. The Titans and Foresters will square off in a twin bill at Mohr Field. Game one is scheduled for a 3 p.m. first pitch, with the second game set to begin at approximately 5 p.m.

Illinois Wesleyan heads into the non-conference doubleheader with a 1-5 overall record after opening the season at the invite-only NFCA Leadoff Classic, March 4-6. There, the Titans battled a slew of top-20 teams and earned a 3-0 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Lake Forest owns a 6-4 overall record ahead of Tuesday's tilts, most recently going 4-4 at The Spring Games, March 7-12.

IWU holds a 10-1 record against LFC since 2012 and is currently riding a three-game win streak against the Foresters. The Titans most recently swept pitching coach Nikki Miller's alma mater in Bloomington March 28, 2019. Illinois Wesleyan won the opening game 2-0, before outlasting Lake Forest, 5-4, in nine innings to complete the sweep.

Sophomore Megan Fontanetta (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Buffalo Grove) and junior Madison Moore (Verona, Wis.-Edgewood) pace the Titans offensively, with team-best batting averages of .389. Senior Colleen Palczynski (Mt. Prospect, Ill.-Prospect) and freshman Ava Khoury (Columbia, Ill.-Columbia) lead the team with three RBI apiece. Moore tops the team with four runs scored from the leadoff spot, while senior Hayley Earl (Washington, Ill.-Washington) is second on the squad with three runs scored.

In the circle, sophomore Bailey Turner (Normal, Ill.-Normal West) leads the five-player staff with an unblemished 0.00 earned run average. Freshman Rylie Perry (Chesterfield, Mo.-Parkway Central) and senior Madie Monk (Manteno, Ill.-Manteno) have struck out six each.

First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m. A live stream of each game can be found here, while links to live stats can be found on the softball schedule page on IWUsports.com.
