Men’s Volleyball Continues CCIW Slate with Date at Loras

Match set for 1 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team will continue the gauntlet that is the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Saturday, March 11, with a battle against Loras College. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. inside of Lillis Court in Dubuque, Iowa. The Titans enter the match up with an overall record of 6-10 (1-5 CCIW), while the Duhawks own a record of 15-3 (4-2 CCIW).

These two conference foes last met Feb. 15, 2022 where Loras defeated IWU in straight sets. LU owns an overall record of 3-0 against the Green and White in a series that began March 6, 2021.

IWU last competed Wednesday, March 9 against North Park in Chicago. The Titans came up short and lost in straight sets. Meanwhile, Loras also last took to the court on March 9. LC battled No. 3 Carthage and dropped a four-set affair. 

In conference matches, the Green and White notches an average of 9.68 digs per set, which ranks third in the CCIW, while coming in fourth with 1.32 aces per set. 

Sophomore Michael Eastman (Chicago, Ill.-Saint Ignatius) leads the offensive charge with his team-leading 166 kills and 28 aces. Fellow sophomore Julian Perez (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) sits in second on the team with 110 kills, and sophomore KJ Johnson (Saint John, Ind.-Marian Catholic) has notched 107 kills on the season.

Freshman Vince DiCosola (Aurora, Ill.-Oswego East) and sophomore Bradley Benson (Lemont, Ill.-Lemont Township) have combined for 436 total assists on the season. DiCosola leads with 227 and Benson has accumulated 209 assists. Johnson tops the team with his 127 digs. Freshman Jake Kougan (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) and Perez lead with 34 and 27 blocks, respectively.
