NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University softball team was picked to finish second in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Coaches Poll Wednesday, Feb. 9. The Titans, who earned 59 points, received three-first place votes.
Millikin topped the list with 61 points and five first-place votes, while North Central was slotted behind IWU. NCC ranked third with 49 points on one-first place vote. Carroll and Carthage rounded out the top-five with 40 and 38 points, respectively.
Wheaton ranked sixth with 27 points, followed by North Park (21), Augustana (16), and Elmhurst (13).
Voting for the CCIW Preseason Softball Poll is done by the head softball coaches. Each coach votes for the eight other programs in the conference in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (eight points for first, seven for second, etc.). Coaches do not vote for their own teams.
Illinois Wesleyan begins its 2022 campaign at Illinois College Tuesday, Feb. 22. First pitch of the twin bill between IWU and IC is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Jacksonville, Ill.
