BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team is set to travel north to take on College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe No. 6 North Central College Saturday, Feb. 19 at Gregory Arena in Naperville. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. The Green and White enter the conference matchup with an overall record of 5-6 (0-1), while the Cardinals own an impressive unblemished 7-0 (1-0) record.
The Titans last competed Tuesday, Feb. 15 in the team's conference opener against Loras College. The Duhawks swept IWU in straight sets to up their record to 10-1 (1-0).
North Central also began its conference slate, Tuesday, Feb. 15, as the Cardinals battled with North Park University. NCC came out victorious in a four-set affair to claim the team's first conference victory.
IWU and NCC have met on the court two times previously. The Cardinals have come out victorious in both matchups, including sweeping the Titans March 13, 2021.
So far this season, the Green and White rank third among CCIW teams in the dig category, notching 10.67 digs per set. Additionally, the team has produced the fourth most service aces with 1.56 per set. However, in terms of total aces, IWU's 67 is good for second, just four behind the ace leaders, Loras. The Titans rank fifth in assists (9.84 per set), kills (10.63 per set), and blocks (1.65 per set).
For Illinois Wesleyan's individual season performers, sophomore Michael Eastman (Chicago, Ill.-St. Ignatius) has produced a staggering 130 kills. Sophomore KJ Johnson (Saint John, Ind.-Marian Catholic) and sophomore
Julian Perez (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) have accumulated 85 and 82 kills, respectively.
Freshman Vince DiColsola (Aurora, Ill.-Oswego East) has produced a total of 171 assists after garnering 31 assists in the team's previous three matches. Sophomore
Bradley Benson (Lemont, Ill.-Lemont Township) has tallied 151 assists after producing 63 assists in his last three matches.
Eastman leads the team in aces with 25, while Johnson tops the team with his 103 digs.
Freshman Jake Kougan (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) has rejected opponents a total of 31 occasions, while Perez has tallied 24 rejections.
