BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team is set to travel north to Fond Du Lac, Wis. to participate in the Marian Invite, Saturday, Feb. 12. The Green and White will take on St. Norbert College at 10 a.m., followed by Marian University at 5:30 p.m. The Titans own a 4-4 record on the season. SNC enters this weekend's invite with an overall record of 1-3, while MU boasts a record of 10-2.
Both matches will mark IWU's first ever contest against these programs.
The Titans last took to the court yesterday, Feb. 10, as the team traveled to take on Aurora University. AU swept the Green and White in straight after halting IWU's offensive to a -.012 hitting percentage.
Meanwhile, the Knights last played Wednesday, Feb. 9. St. Norbert battled College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe North Park University. NPU swept SNC to improve its record to 6-1. Additionally, MU also last took on a CCIW opponent in Augustana College. This match was played Sunday, Feb 6, as the Sabres swept the Vikings in straight sets.
For the season, sophomore Michael Eastman (Chicago, Ill.-Saint Ignatius) is leading the Titans' offensive charge with 102 kills. The Chicago, Ill. native also leads the Green and White with 22 aces after talling 13 in the team's two previous matches.
Sophomore KJ Johnson (Saint John, Ind.-Marian Catholic) has assembled a team-high 74 digs to guide the Titan back row. Offensively, the Saint John, Ind. native's 69 kills is good for second on the team.
The setting trio of freshman Vince DiCosola (Aurora, Ill.-Oswego East), sophomore
Bradley Benson (Lemont, Ill.-Lemont Township), and sophomore
Dominic Bennett (Lockport, Ill.-Plainfield Central) have totaled 288 assists on the year. DiCosola leads the trio with 140 assists, while Benson and Bennett have accumulated 88 and 60 assists, respectively.
Freshman Jake Kougan (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) has earned 23 blocks and sophomore
Julian Perez (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) has tallied 18.
