Women’s Tennis Falls to Bluejays on the Road

Titans return to action Oct. 16 for final fall match

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team fell to Elmhurst University, 8-1, in a midweek College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin match. The Titans drop to 0-8, 0-7 in CCIW play entering the final weekend of the fall season.

Sophomore Andie Wilson (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial) picked up the lone victory for the Titans, winning at No. 4 singles. The Champaign, Ill. native dropped the first set to Brynn Rubacky from Elmhurst (7-5, 1-5 CCIW) 6-2, but battled back to force the decisive tiebreaker, winning the second set 6-3. Wilson used the momentum to take the tiebreaking set in 10-8 fashion to secure her first collegiate win. 

At No. 1 doubles, the freshman duo of Kate Christian (Washington, Ill.-Washington Community) and Raji More (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) teamed up to battle Jolene Neuhalfen and June Bering from Elmhurst. The freshmen battled tough, but dropped the match 8-2. 

The Titans close out the fall season at home against North Park University Sunday, Oct. 16. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Beadles-Morse Courts.
