BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team is set to host the inaugural IWU Invitational this Saturday, Jan. 29. The tournament will take place inside of the Shirk Center and will feature IWU, Adrian College, and Concordia University-Chicago.
The Green and White will battle with Adrian and Concordia-Chicago at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. Both matches will mark the first time between the programs.
The team last hit the court Wednesday, Jan. 25 as host to Rockford University. The Titans rallied back from an early two-set hole just to win a wild five set match to bring the team's record to 2-1. The match was highlighted by sophomore Julian Perez's (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) 20 kills and sophomore
KJ Johnson's (Saint John, Ind.-Marian Catholic) double-double that featured 27 digs and 13 kills.
Fresh off of the program's first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Player of the Week nomination, sophomore Michael Eastman (Chicago, Ill.-Saint Ignatius) is leading the offensive charge with 33 kills. Johnson has tallied 30 kills to go along with his team leading 44 digs. Perez and freshman
Luke Hartke (Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) have each notched 26 kills.
Freshman Vince DiCosola (Aurora, Ill.-Oswego East) leads the team in assists (72) and aces (10).
