Men’s Volleyball Readies for Round Two with Rockford

First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball team is set to begin its 2022 home slate with a non-conference matchup against Rockford University, Tuesday, Jan. 25 inside of the Shirk Center. First serve is set for 7 p.m. The Green and White enter the match with a record of 1-1, while the Regents are 0-4.

In the short two-match series between IWU and Rockford, the Titans have won both matchups including a five-set victory that took place February 22, 2021. 

The Titans last competed Friday, Jan. 25 at the Rockford triangular that featured matches against 15th-ranked NAIA opponent Mount Mercy University as well Rockford. IWU lost in a tight, hard-fought, four-set affair against MMU and defeated RU in straight sets. 

Sophomore Michael Eastman (Chicago, Ill.-Saint Ignatius) led the offensive charge for the Green and White in the Rockford triangular en route to notching 33 kills over the span of both matches. In fact, the Chicago, Ill. native broke the single match record for kills with his 23 kill performance against Mt. Mercy, while hitting a .318 clip. 

Freshman Luke Hartke (Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) and sophomore KJ Johnson (Saint John, Ind.-Marian Catholic) both tallied 17 kills for the Titans over the two matches.

The 6-2 setting scheme duo of freshman Vince DiColsola (Aurora, Ill.-Oswego East) and sophomore Dominic Bennett (Lockport, Ill.-Plainfield Central) accumulated 41 and 29 assists, respectively. 

Sophomore libero Adam Blackmore (Geneva, Ill.-Geneva) and Johnson each totaled 17 digs at the triangular.
