Eastman Garners CCIW Offensive Player of the Week Honors

First Titan to earn award in program history

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Sophomore Michael Eastman (Chicago, Ill./Saint Ignatius) hauled in the first weekly College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin award in Illinois Wesleyan University men's volleyball history Monday, Jan. 24, as he was tabbed the league's Offensive Player of the Week.

Eastman put together two strong performances to lead the Titans in an opening tri at Rockford, Jan. 21. He rewrote the IWU record books in a four-set match against Mount Mercy, generating a program record 23 kills, breaking his previous record of 19, while maintaining a .318 attacking percentage. The sophomore added three aces and two digs to lead a short-handed Titan team. He followed that up with an impressive .412 attacking percentage in IWU's straight-set win over Rockford that included once ace, six digs, and one block assist. Over the two matches played this week, he tallied a total of 33 kills in seven sets. 

For the week, Eastman garnered 5.36 points per set, 4.71 kills per set, 1.14 digs per set, 0.57 aces per set, and 0.14 blocks per set to go along with a cumulative hitting percentage of .344.   

Eastman and the Titans will tangle with Rockford University Tuesday, Jan. 25 with a 7 p.m. first serve inside of the Shirk Center.
