BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University softball team will play six games in four days beginning with a doubleheader against Carthage College at Inspiration Field Thursday, April 15. Illinois Wesleyan (12-8, 9-5 CCIW) rides into the six-game stretch amid a three-game win streak, most recently sweeping Wheaton 13-3 and 3-0. The Titans' strong week saw Nina Mardjetko (Lemont, Ill.-Lemont) tabbed the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week, while Colleen Palczynski (Mt. Prospect, Ill.-Prospect) picked up CCIW Hitter of the Week honors.

Carthage charges into the four-game set at 10-6 overall and 8-4 in conference play. The Firebirds have won seven of their last eight. Carthage split with North Central earlier this week, April 13, losing the first game 4-0, before bouncing back with an 11-3 win in game two. Carroll is 12-10 overall and 8-6 in CCIW games. The Pioneers upped their record with a sweep of North Park, April 13, by five-inning scores of 12-0 and 10-1.

Illinois Wesleyan and Carthage have squared off 73 times since the 1997 campaign, with IWU holding a 52-21 edge in the series. The Titans have won 20 of the past 23 meetings. In the series against Carroll, IWU holds a 14-1 edge and has won six straight over the Pioneers. Most recently, Illinois Wesleyan defeated Carroll 6-0 and 16-1 in a doubleheader in Bloomington, Ill., March 28.
