BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University softball team wraps up its lengthy homestand with College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin doubleheaders against Carthage College and Carroll University Saturday-Sunday, March 27-28. The Titans will take on the Firebirds Saturday with first pitch set for 1 p.m., while Sunday's first pitch against the Pioneers is scheduled for 12 p.m.

Illinois Wesleyan is 3-5 on the season and 1-3 in league play. The Titans most recently split a midweek double dip against Wheaton, March 24. Carthage, who is less than two weeks into its season, is 0-2 on the year. The Firebirds were swept in a doubleheader against MSOE, March 19, and saw another non-conference series postponed. Carroll enters the weekend even at 3-3 overall. The Pioneers will open up CCIW play at Millikin Saturday, March 27, before Sunday's clash with IWU.

Junior Hayley Earl (Washington, Ill.-Washington) and senior Lexy Trammell (Peoria, Ill.-Limestone) have led the Titans offense through the season's first eight games. Earl holds team-highs in batting average (.360), hits (9), and RBIs (5). Trammell is second on the team with a batting average of .333, and has a team-high three extra-base hits.

In the circle, junior Madie Monk (Manteno, Ill.-Manteno) and sophomore Natalie Grubczak (Medinah, Ill.-Lake Park) hold earned run averages of 1.14 and 2.03, respectively. Grubczak leads the Titans with 23 strikeouts and has held opponents to a .205 batting average.

Saturday will be the 74th and 75th games between Illinois Wesleyan and Carthage all-time. IWU leads the series by a 52-21 tally, and is 7-3 against the Firebirds in the last 10 matchups. The last time the two played was in the 2019 NCAA Tournament, where IWU edged CC 1-0 and 4-1.

Illinois Wesleyan's history with Carroll is much less extensive, as Sunday will be games 14 and 15 between the Titans and Pioneers. IWU holds a 12-1 upperhand in the series, and has won four straight against Carroll.

First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, March 27, and can be viewed via live stream here. Live stats for both games will be available at this link, while Sunday's live stream can be found here.
