D3baseball Team of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Senior pitcher Quinn Gudaitis (Arlington Heights, Ill.-John Hersey) and junior outfielder Evan Ranneklev (Naperville, Ill.-Neuqua Valley) of the Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team were selected to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for the month of February, the organization announced Tuesday, March 2. Gudaitis and Ranneklev, who led IWU to a pair of wins over Greenville Feb. 26, are the first Titans to earn the honor since Pat Mollo did so in week nine of the 2017 season.

Gudaitis was exceptional on the mound in Illinois Wesleyan's season-opening 12-1 win over Greenville. Gudaitis struck out 10, one off his career-high, while allowing just two hits over six innings of work. He allowed no runs, opening his senior season with a 0.00 ERA.

Ranneklev kicked off the season with an 8-for-10 (.800) effort at the plate in the Titans' doubleheader sweep of Greenville, Feb. He began the season with a 5-for-6 showing in the season opener, driving in one and scoring a run to lead the IWU offense. In game two of the double-dip, Ranneklev finished a homer shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored, an RBI, a double, and triple, and a walk.

The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its ninth season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors.
