Men's Lacrosse Opens Spring Break Trip Against Eighth-Ranked Ursinus

Game time is slated for 1 p.m ET

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team will face a tall task in pursuit of its fifth straight win Saturday afternoon, March 7, when the Titans take on eighth-ranked Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at Patterson Field. Illinois Wesleyan heads into the matchup winners of four in-a-row and carries a 4-1 record, while Ursinus sits at 5-0 on the year. 

Illinois Wesleyan is coming off a three-game homestand in which the Titans picked up wins over Aurora (23-9), Alma (24-11), and John Carroll (16-14). With strong performances against Alma and JCU, sophomore Rick Smith (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln Way East) and junior Will Harris (Bloomington, Minn.-Holy Angels) earned College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Player of the Week honors.

IWU's attack is paced by a youthful trio in Smith, Carson Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview), and Connor Kiichle (Vancouver, Wash.-Skyview). Smith leads the team with 21 goals and 10 assists, while the Kiichle brothers have combined for 25 goals and 19 helpers. Overall, the Titans rank 12th nationally in scoring offense at 17.6 goals per game.

Defensively, Harris has racked up 69 saves with a .552 save percentage. His 13.8 saves per game are slotted 48th nationally, while his save percentage is ranked 98th in the country.
