BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team left Neis Field with a 3-1 victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Wednesday, Sept. 18. The Titans controlled play for a majority of the match, as IWU held a 30 to seven edge in shots, 11 to four advantage in shots on target, and earned 13 corners to RHIT's zero.
Sophomore
Caelyn Steffens (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) scored twice in the first half for the first brace of her IWU career. She tallied the first one from just outside the penalty box in the 15th minute, before adding the second off a pass from freshman
Lauren Shanks (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) in the 42nd. After IWU conceded a goal in the 83rd minute, junior
Cameron Hindel (Batavia, Ill.-Batavia HS) capped off the scoring for IWU in the 87th on a blast inside the far post.
Sophomore
Maria Fields (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln Way East HS) earned her first career victory as goalkeeper, make three saves for the Titans.
The Titans next two matches will take place at the UW-Oshkosh Invite over the weekend, with the first match against St. Thomas (Minn.) set for Saturday, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
