BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan softball team won two games on Friday, May 3, to come within one victory of winning the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament championship at the IWU Softball Field.
Illinois Wesleyan (32-7 overall) downed Wheaton, 2-0, in the first game and topped Carthage, 7-3, in the second game. IWU will play at 12 p.m. Saturday, May 4, against the winner of the 10 a.m. elimination game between Wheaton and Carthage.

Illinois Wesleyan has won two-straight and four of the last five conference titles and is a 13-time CCIW Softball Tournament champion.

Ally Wiegand (18-2) pitched a three-hit shutout and junior shortstop
Sam Berghoff, who had three of the Titans' seven hits, drove home both runs with singles in the first inning and the fifth inning.
Junior
Brea Walker (13-4) scattered eight hits and allowed just two earned runs in tossing the complete game in the second contest. The Titans had 15 hits in the game, led by three from Berghoff and freshman catcher
