BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- After sweeping three games at home in the NCAA Division III regional last weekend, the No. 7-ranked Illinois Wesleyan softball team will host familiar foe Carthage College in the best-of-three NCAA Super Regional beginning with a single game at 2 p.m. Friday, May 17.

The teams return to IWU Softball Field on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game, followed by another game if necessary. The Super Regional winner advances to the NCAA III National Championships, held May 23-28 at Suddenlink Field on the campus of the University of Texas at Tyler.

Tickets, all general admission, are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens (62 and older) and $7 for students with a valid school ID. Children (under 12) tickets are $5 and children under age 2 get in free.

Winners of seven straight games, the Titans are 36-7, are playing in the Super Regional round for the fourth straight season and have a 7-5 overall record in three previous Supers. The Titans lost their first Super Regional appearance at home in 2014 to Wisconsin-Whitewater and have won the 2016 tourney at Luther, the 2017 Super at Transylvania and the 2018 Super in Bloomington.

Illinois Wesleyan has won three of four against College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opponent Carthage this season, taking both games in the CCIW postseason tournament on May 3-4 by scores of 7-3 and 3-1 after splitting the regular season doubleheader on May 1. IWU lost the opener, 8-0 and came back for a 1-0 win in game two.

Only seven other teams have won more than 36 games in IWU softball history with the record of 41 in 2014 (41-7) and Illinois Wesleyan has a 50-37 record in national postseason play. Go here for IWU appearances in NCAA Tournament.
