BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- For the fourth straight season, the Illinois Wesleyan softball team will advance to the Super Regional round after an 8-0, six inning victory over Calvin College in the final game of the Bloomington, Ill. regional final on Saturday, May 11.

With the win, the Titans improved to 36-7 and will play in the 2019 NCAA Division III Softball Super Regional round against either Carthage or Wisconsin-Whitewater, who play on Sunday to determine the winner of the
Wisconsin-Whitewater Regional. The winner of the Super Regional will advance to the NCAA Division III finals held May 23-28 in Tyler, Texas.
This is Illinois Wesleyan seventh all-time regional championship (2003, 2008, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019) and IWU has a 50-37 record in national postseason play.

Junior pitcher
Ally Wiegand was selected as the regional's "Most Outstanding Player" and was joined on the all-regional team by juniors
Mia Massaro,
Shelby Fulk, and
Sam Berghoff.
In the three games, Massaro hit .778, Berghoff hit .750 with two home runs and six RBI and Fulk batted .667. Wiegand was 2-0 with 21 strikeouts in 12 1/3 innings, allowing only three hits with a 0.68 earned run average.
In the win over Calvin (31-10), junior starter
Brea Walker (14-4) scattered six hits and fanned three in 4 2/3 innings and Wiegand retired the four batters she faced in relief. The Titans scored two in the first, four in the fourth and polished the game off with two in the sixth.
Fulk provided three runs batted in, Berghoff went three-for-three and Massaro had two hits and scored three runs.
Only seven other teams have won more than 36 games in IWU softball history with the record of 41 in 2014 (41-7)
