CAROL STREAM, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan sophomore
Quinn Gudaitis struck out 10 and walked none in a complete game six-hitter to lead the Titans to a 3-2 win over North Park in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin baseball tournament on Friday, May 10, at Lee Pfund Stadium in Carol Stream, Ill.
The No. 4-seed Titans (23-18) will play No. 3-seed Millikin (23-19) at 10 a.m. Saturday (May 11) at Zimmerman Stadium in Naperville, Ill. If the Titans win that game, they would need to beat No. 1-seed North Central twice on Saturday to win the conference tournament.
In the new format six-team conference postseason tourney, North Park (24-18) was playing its third game on Friday after wins over Wheaton (9-0) and Augustana (4-2) prior to meeting IWU.
Junior third baseman
Dalton Fletcher smacked a solo home run to give IWU a 1-0 lead in the second. The Titans scored their other two runs in the sixth when freshman rightfielder
Evan Ranneklev led off with a double and, with two outs, scored on a triple by junior first baseman
Garrett Shea. Shea then scored an unearned run on a passed ball.
Gudaitis improved to 7-1 with the win, allowing six singles and both of his runs were unearned.
