WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The No. 17-ranked Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team limited Carroll University to 15 first half points on 21 percent shooting en route to a 63-48 win over the Pioneers at Van Male Fieldhouse in Waukesha, Wis., on Saturday, Feb. 16.
The Titans close out their regular season with a 21-4 record and a 14-2 mark in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. IWU will play in 5 p.m. semifinal of the
CCIW postseason tournament next Friday at Wheaton, Ill.
Illinois Wesleyan never trailed in the game and led 23-7 after the first quarter and 39-15 at halftime as the Pioneers shot .207 (6 of 29) from the floor in the first 20 minutes. The Titans built up their biggest lead of 29 points at 48-19 with 5:55 to play in the third quarter.

Maddie Merritt went 5 of 6 from the field and scored 14 points to lead IWU with sophomore
Raven Hughes adding 12 and senior
Ashley Schneider and sophomore
Kendall Sosa, who had all three of the team's 3-pointers, each contributing 11 points. Sophomore
Riley Brovelli had a team-high six rebounds as the Titans outrebounded the Pios, 39-36.
Twenty of the team's 24 baskets were the result of an assist as junior
Sydney Shanks handed out six and Schneider had five.
Carroll's season ends with a 9-16 record, 4-12 in the CCIW. Sierra Grubor scored 17 points and Celina Schwantes got a game-high eight rebounds for the Pioneers.
