Football Falls at No. 6 North Central

Jack Healy and Bryce Dooley scored touchdowns for Titans

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University football team was unable to keep up with No. 6 ranked North Central College Saturday afternoon, Nov. 9, as the Cardinals scored early and often to hand the Titans a 69-14 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin defeat. IWU fell to 5-4 on the season and 5-3 in CCIW play while North Central saw its record improve to 8-1 overall and 7-1 in the conference.

Both of Illinois Wesleyan's touchdowns came in the second quarter, with senior Johnny Dicanio (Elmhurst, Ill.-York HS) finding fellow senior Jack Healy (Northfield, Ill.-Glenbrook South HS) on a seven-yard touchdown with 10:41 left to put the Titans on the board. Senior Bryce Dooley (LeRoy, Ill.-LeRoy HS) was the other touchdown scorer, finding the endzone on a four-yard run.

Dicanio posted 178 yards on 14-of-32 passing with a touchdown and an interception while also leading all Titans with 30 yards rushing. Sophomore Wesley Watson (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel HS) led all receivers with 97 yards receiving on four receptions.

On defense, seniors Jake Kapp (Wheaton, Ill.-Montini Catholic HS) and Francis Urbanski (North Riverside, Ill.-Riverside-Brookfield HS), along with junior Keenan Scott (Evanston, Ill.-Riverside-Brookfield HS), tied for the team lead with five total tackles each. Urbanski's total tackles included a team-leading two tackles for a loss.

Illinois Wesleyan was outgained by North Central 622-227, with the Cardinals rushing for 306 yards while holding the Titans to 49.

The Titans return to Bloomington for Seniors' Day against North Park University Saturday, Nov. 16. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Tucci Stadium.
