BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- After holding a 4-2 lead after the first quarter, the Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team outscored Augustana, 19-4, in the final three periods to claim a 23-6 victory in the semifinal of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin postseason tournament at Tucci Stadium on Wednesday, May 2.
Illinois Wesleyan improved to 15-3 overall while Augustana's season ends with an 8-8 mark.
The No. 1 seeded Titans will play in the CCIW final at Tucci Stadium at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, against either No. 3 seed Carthage (12-5) or No. 2 seed Elmhurst (13-2). Wednesday's other semifinal game at Elmhurst was postponed due to rain and lightning and has been officially rescheduled for Friday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m.
IWU, who outshot the Vikings 57-35, got six goals from senior 
James Maibuecher and four more from 
Will Rossi.
Alex Doorenbos, 
Bailey Marth, and 
Peter Trunk each had three goals while 
Caleb Green, 
Tanner Nelson, 
Tom Lyons and 
Patrick Murphy each added one tally.
Marth also had a team-high five assists while senior 
Nick Winter had three and Trunk provided two helpers.
The Titans were 24 of 26 on clear attempts and collected 49 ground balls to 27 for Augustana. Illinois Wesleyan dominated the faceoffs, getting 25 of 30 with junior 
J.C. Grabarek claiming 20 of 23 and 
Max Bousky getting 5 of 7.
Freshman 
McGuire Mynatt had another strong night in net, making 16 saves in 60 minutes.
