GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The No. 16-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University softball team defeated DePauw University by a final score of 3-0 on Thursday, March 15 thanks to a one-hit pitching effort from sophomore
Brea Walker. Walker (2-1) earned her second win of the season pitching 7.0 innings, allowing one hit, and striking out four. The sophomore from Gibson City, Ill. took a perfect game into the seventh inning, but a lead-off single ended her bid.
With a win the Titans improved to 4-3 on the season while the Tigers fell to 4-5 overall. Illinois Wesleyan will continue play at the DePauw Invitational over the course of the next two days with match-ups against Illinois College, Washington University in St. Louis, and Trine.

Stephanie Prentice led the team in batting with two hits apiece while sophomore
Sam Berghoff drove in a team-high two runs. Runyon crossed the plate three times for the Titans and stole two bases. Also collecting hits for the Titans were senior

Julie Josten, and sophomore
Shelby Fulk.
Berghoff drove in the first two runs of the game for Illinois Wesleyan, first driving in Runyon on a ground out to the shortstop, and later driving her in on a double to left center field. Prentice drove Runyon home during the seventh inning on a single to right field which provided the Titans with a 3-0 lead heading into the final half inning.
Becca St. Germain collected the lone hit of the day for DePauw as the Tigers were stymied by Walker on the mound. Walker induced 11 ground outs during the contest.
Julia Bork was the pitcher of record for DePauw allowing six hits and two earned runs over 4.1 innings pitched. Emma Baldwin came on to pitch in relief allowing two hits and one earned run over 2.1 innings.
What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan will continue play at the DePauw Invitational over the course of the next two days with their next game coming against Illinois College at 1:30 p.m. CT on Friday, March 16. Illinois College holds a season record of 5-5 and are led on offense by catcher Lea Hall who leads the team in batting with a .450 average and 13 RBI.
