Shea's First Inning Grand Slam Propels Titans to 10-3 Win Over Fredonia

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Sophomore first baseman Garrett Shea smacked a grand slam home run to cap a six-run first inning and the Illinois Wesleyan baseball team went on to a 10-3 win over SUNY-Fredonia in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational at the Chain o'Lakes Park in Winter Haven, Fla., on Tuesday, March 13.

The Titans improved to 6-1 this season while Fredonia falls to 8-2.

Four Titans singled to open the game – sophomore shortstop Brandon Skopick, junior leftfielder John Bosco, sophomore centerfielder Nick Figus and senior DH Gino Cavalieri – before junior rightfielder Ben Manski walked to leave the bases loaded for Shea's blast.

Shea finished with four hits and five runs batted in while Bosco and Cavalieri each had three hits in an 18-hit Titan offensive attack.

In his first start of the season, freshman right-hander Joe Prestamer (1-0) threw seven strong innings, allowing one run on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
