BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team celebrated "Seniors' Night" with an 87-58 win over the Carroll Pioneers at the Shirk Center on Saturday, Feb. 10.
The Titans improved to 19-3 this season and 12-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Pioneers slipped to 7-15 overall and 4-9 in the league. With the victory, Illinois Wesleyan has clinched a berth in the CCIW postseason tournament, along with Wheaton and Carthage.
Illinois Wesleyan extended a seven-point first quarter lead (22-15) to a comfortable 46-29 edge at halftime. The Titans' largest lead was 32 at 69-37 with 2:14 left in n the third quarter.
The Titans were led by junior
Nina Anderson, who came off the bench to pour in a career-high 22 points with five 3-pointers.
Senior
Rebekah Ehresman came within an assist of a triple-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists while senior
Molly McGraw scored 17 and junior
Maddie Merritt added 10 in the win.
IWU outrebounded Carroll, 48-38 and scored 28 points off 25 Carroll turnovers. The Titans also received 37 points from non-starters compared to 10 for Carroll.
Carroll was led by the 18 points and eight rebounds from Brittney Wald and 14 points from Emily Majerus.
What's Next?
The Titans host Millikin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14 ... winners of two straight games, the Big Blue is 2-11 in the conference and 7-15 overall after an 82-63 win over Augustana at home Saturday.
