Volleyball Win Streak at 17 After Two Saturday Wins at Shirk Center

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan school-record volleyball winning streak is at 17 after a pair of wins in the Holiday Inn Express Classic III at the Shirk Center on Saturday, Oct. 27.

The No. 14 nationally ranked Titans are 22-5 after beating Nebraska Wesleyan in three sets (25-21, 25-14, 25-18) and downing Cornell in four sets (10-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-17).

In the win over Nebraska Wesleyan, sophomore Jessica McCall led IWU with 10 kills and had two service aces to go with five blocks while seniors Tyler Brown and Maddie Williams had 10 and nine, respectively. 

Freshman Madi Corey had a team-high 17 assists and had three service aces. Senior Leah Seielstad had 15 assists and 11 digs and freshman Amber Juarez made 13 digs and Brown had 12.

Senior Heidi Dague made six blocks and Williams had three as Illinois Wesleyan had 10 total blocks, third most in a match this season.

Against the Rams, Brown had 14 kills and 13 digs while Williams made 13 kills and had three blocks. Rachel Burkman had nine kills and 16 digs to go with two blocks. Senior Emily Chapman also had two blocks.

Seielstad had 25 assists and Corey had 24 assists while Juarez paced Illinois Wesleyan with 17 defensive digs.

Brown and Williams were selected to the Holiday Inn Express Classic III all-tournament team. With the 13 digs against Cornell, Brown has 1,870 in her career and became the all-time leader at Illinois Wesleyan, surpassing the mark of 1,860 by Jaclyn Verticchio Heller from 2003-06. What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan travels to Carthage College In Kenosha, Wis., on Tuesday, Oct. 30, for a 7 p.m. match that will decide the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championship. Both teams are 7-0 in league play.
