BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- A total of nine Illinois Wesleyan pitchers surrendered 32 hits and 20 runs in a pair of baseball losses to Millikin University at Horenberger Field on Friday, April 28. IWU lost game one by a 9-0 score and fell in game two, 11-6, suffering an eight-run second inning.
The Titans are now 20-14 overall and still hold onto first place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with a 13-7 record while the Big Blue improved to 19-15 overall and 8-12 in the CCIW.
Sophomore leftfielder
John Bosco had two of IWU's five hits in game one and freshman centerfielder
Nick Figus had half of the Titans' hits in the nightcap, going 4-for-5 with a two-run home run and three runs batted in.
Senior catcher
Pat Mollo had two doubles and junior third baseman
Jake Stewart added two singles in game two.
In first game relief, freshman righthander
Nick Sanders tossed three shutout innings, allowing one hit with three strikeouts anf two walks.
A bright spot on the mound for the Titans in game two was freshman lefthander
Jim O'Brien, who threw three scoreless frames, allowing three hits and striking out three with three walks.
