BELOIT, Wis. -- After the game was moved from Wednesday to Tuesday, April 25 due to projected inclement weather, the Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team defeated Beloit College by a final score of 23-11. Sophomore
Bailey Marth led the team with a career-high six goals and eight total points. Senior
Evan Mok-Lamme matched his season-high with six points after scoring three goals and recording three assists.
Illinois Wesleyan improved to 13-3 overall with a win while the Buccaneers fell to 10-4 on the season.
IWU trailed early in the contest, 2-1, but eventually pulled away from Beloit to hold a 9-6 advantage after the first quarter. The Titans controlled the remainder of the contest from then on out, outscoring the Buccaneers 14-5 over the remaining three quarters.
Illinois Wesleyan was nearly matched shot-for-shot in the contest but still out-shot the Buccaneers 56-to-42 in total with a 36-to-24 advantage on shots on goal. What truly set the Titans apart from their competition on Tuesday was their ability to successfully clear the ball and win face-offs. IWU converted on 31-of-33 clearance attempts while their defense held Beloit to 22-of-35. On face-offs, the Titans won 28 compared to just 10 for Beloit. Sophomore
J.C. Grabarek played a big part in that, winning 24-of-30 face-offs he attempted. Grabarek also helped the Titans to a 42-to-27 advantage on ground balls by matching his season-high with 21.

Tim Smith matched his season-high with four goals on Tuesday. Also scoring multiple goals for the Titans were freshman

Evan Anderson and
Pete Picciolo each added one goal to the final tally. Julius tied for the team lead in assists alongside Mok-Lamme with three. Senior

Will Rossi, Doorenbos, Grabarek, and Perry all recorded assists. Sophomore
Jake Lamb led the team with two caused turnovers.
In goal for IWU, senior
Steven Laduzinsky made 11 saves on 31 shots faced over 45 minutes of play.
For Beloit, John Murphy made 13 saves in goal. Leading the Buccaneers in scoring was Mark Gannon who notched three goals and one assist on the afternoon.
What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan concludes the regular season on Saturday, April 29 with a 4 p.m. match at North Central College. The Cardinals currently hold a 9-4 record and will play Carroll University on Wednesday, April 26 prior to welcoming the Titans to town.
