CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Illinois Wesleyan softball team earned a pair of non-conference wins at the University of Chicago on Saturday, April 1, winning by scores of 3-2 and 5-3.
Winners of six straight games, the Titans improved to 12-4 while the Maroons slipped to 9-6 with the two losses.
In game one, IWU was limited to three hits by Maroons pitcher Molly Moran, who fanned eight. IWU junior
Maggie Graham smacked a solo home run in the second inning to stake the Titans to a 1-0 lead and IWU took advantage of two Chicago errors in the third to go ahead 2-0 without getting a hit. Freshman shortstop

IWU freshman
Brea Walker (3-0) pitched a complete game, allowing five hits with three strikeouts and a walk. Four of those hits came in the seventh inning when the Maroons scored their two runs and Walker struck out a hitter for the final out to strand runners at second and third.
Sophomore centerfielder
Jillian Runyon, Graham and freshman designated hitter
Sydney Alery each had two hits in a nine-hit IWU attack in game two with Graham providing two RBI and Alery hitting a two-run double in a four-run fifth inning that gave the Titans a 5-0 lead. IWU left nine runners on base and used three Maroon errors to score three unearned runs.
