KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The Illinois Wesleyan softball team closed out their spring break trip on a winning note with a 7-2 win over Washington College (Md.) after losing to No. 13-ranked Wis.-Eau Claire, 3-2, on Friday, March 17 at the Osceola County Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Fla.
The Titans snapped a four-game losing streak to boost their record to 6-4. Eau Claire is 6-1 and Washington College is 9-10.
Against Eau-Claire, the Titans were bitten by solo home runs in the sixth inning (tied the game at 2-2) and in the seventh inning (won the game).
IWU took a 2-1 lead over the Blugolds in the bottom of the fifth inning with a two-RBI single from freshman shortstop
Sam Berghoff, who finished with two hits in the game.

Brea Walker earned a no-decision after pitching six innings and allowing just one earned run on three hits. Junior
Mackenzie Marquis was tagged with her second loss of the season after a one-inning stint in which she allowed the home run to Kelsey Meredith.
Berghoff had three hits, including a three-run home run, and four RBI to pace the Titans in the win over the Shorewomen. Sophomore centerfielder
Jillian Runyon had two hits, stole three bases and scored a pair of runs and junior leftfielder
Stephanie Prentice also scored two runs. Illinois Wesleyan had 11 hits and stranded seven runners.
Marquis (3-2) went a complete-game seven innings, scattering five hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Her two seventh-inning runs were unearned.

Illinois Wesleyan will play a pair of games at the Washington U. Invitational in St. Louis on Saturday, March 25, taking on Washington U. at 12:15 p.m. and Coe College at 2:30 p.m. The Titans open their home season with a doubleheader against Lake Forest at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 26.
