Carthage Provides Saturday Opposition for Illinois Wesleyan Basketball

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan women's and men's basketball teams play College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin road games on Saturday, Feb. 8, traveling to Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis., to square off against Carthage College. The women's game is at 5 p.m. and the men's game will follow at 7 p.m.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

THE GAME: The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team (15-6, 10-2 CCIW) travels to Kenosha, Wis. to face Carthage College (12-9, 6-6 CCIW) at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11.
 
TITAN WOMEN'S HOOP NOTES: IWU has won five straight and 10 of the last 11 ... IWU is sixth of 440 NCAA D-III teams in scoring (79.5), 12th in turnovers forced per game (24.9) and 7th in turnover margin (9.0) ... Junior Molly McGraw is No. 13 all-time at IWU with 1,091 career points (71 games). The all-time record is 1,632 by Traci Butler (102 games, 1992-96) ... Junior Rebekah Ehresman ranks No. 33 in scoring (823), No. 21 in 3-pointers (72), No. 16 in free throws (193), No. 28 in rebounds (401), No. 10 in offensive rebounds (153) and No. 18 in assists (208) ... Senior Amanda Kelly ranks No. 10 in the nation for assist-to-turnover ratio (2.48). Ehresman is right behind Kelly ranking No. 14 for assist-to-turnover ratio (2.33) ... Kelly matched her career-high in scoring with 19 points on an impressive 8-of-9 shooting (3-of-3 3-pointers) in the 89-61 win at North Park Wednesday.
 
ABOUT THE LADY REDS: Carthage ranks No. 56 in total offense, scoring 72.0 points per game. The Lady Reds see most of their success from beyond the arc where they rank No. 8 national in 3-pointers per game with 8.6 ... Madie Kaelber leads the team in scoring with 13.8 points per game on .480 percent shooting from the field ... Morgan Harris scores 11.1 ppg while leads the team in rebounding (7.1 rpg) and assists (116). Harris ranks No. 11 nationally in assists per game (5.8) ... Carthage holds an 8-2 record at home this season, but have yet to win a game on the road (0-7).
 
COACHES: Illinois Wesleyan's Mia Smith is in her 19th season and has an overall record of 361-155 (.699) with a CCIW mark of 193-71 (.731) ... Tim Bernero is in his 14th season at Carthage, holding a career record of 239-133 (120-74 CCIW).
 
THE SERIES: The Titans hold a 38-28 lead over Carthage in the all-time series having won three consecutive meetings. IWU defeated Carthage 77-50 earlier this season thanks to an 18 point performance from McGraw and a 16 point, nine rebound performance from Nina Anderson.
 
WHAT'S NEXT: The Titans are back home on Wednesday, Feb. 15 to face Elmhurst College. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. from the Shirk Center.
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL

THE GAME: The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team (15-6, 7-5 CCIW) visits Carthage College (15-6, 8-4 CCIW) at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis.
 
POLLING PLACE: From the CCIW, Augustana (17-4) is ranked No. 20 and North Park (15-5) is ranked No. 25 in this week's D3hoops.com poll. Among other IWU opponents, Washington U. (17-3) is No. 5 and Middlebury (18-3) is No. 13.
 
ABOUT ILLINOIS WESLEYAN: IWU is 33rd of 416 D-III schools with a +10.2 scoring margin, 39th with 9.5 3-pointers/game and 41st in fewest turnovers (248) ... With 455, senior Trevor Seibring is 28th at IWU in career rebounds, 40th with 233 free throws and 35th with a .702 career FT percentage... Four players score in double-figures for Carthage led by Mike Stevenson (16.0) ... Jordan Thomas (10.7), Kienen Baltimore (10.4), and Brad Perry (10.1) round out the bunch ... Brad Kruse is the team's leading rebounder with 6.3 per game ... Kevin Kozil leads the conference in assists with 100 helpers (4.76 per game).
 
COACHES: Illinois Wesleyan's Ron Rose is in his 11th season and has a 204-101 overall mark (.669) with a CCIW ledger of 966-56. Rose is third in wins at IWU, behind Dennie Bridges (667-319, 1965-01) and Jack Horenberger (264-212, 1945-65). Rose got his 200th career win at home vs. Wheaton on Jan. 7 ... Bosko Djurickovic is in his 21st season at Carthage boasting a career record of 528-284 ... He holds a record of 332-205 at Carthage and had a record of 196-79 during his 10-season stint at North Park.
 
THE SERIES: IWU leads Carthage 97-26 in an all-time series that dates back to the 1925-26 season. The Titans have won seven straight against the Red Men including a 77-74 victory on Jan. 14 this season.
 
HOME COOKING: Illinois Wesleyan is 10-1 at home this year and has a 22-year Shirk Center record of 250-43 (.852) ... In the past six years (2009-17), IWU is 90-14 at home.
