Men's Soccer Shuts Down Gorloks 3-0

FENTON, Mo. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team defeated Webster University on Tuesday, Sept. 27 by a final score of 3-0. IWU freshman Luke Cangilla scored his first career goal for the Titans at the 30:36 mark in the first half, which would later prove to be the game-winning goal. Junior Ryan Kaplan assisted on the play, his first of the year.

With a win the Titans improve to 4-4-1 on the season, while the Gorloks fall to 3-6-0. With eight games remaining in the regular season, the Titans are two wins away from matching last seasons win total.

Illinois Wesleyan added two goals late in the second half, the first coming off the foot of freshman Patrick Hickey by way of senior Connor Allen. Hickey's goal was the first of his career, the second Titan to do so on Tuesday night. The second goal of the half came nearly five minutes later in the 80th minute when junior Alex White scored an unassisted goal, his first of the year.

11 different Titans have scored thus far in 2016, with sophomore Joey Delbert leading the way at three goals.

Sophomore Eddie Sanchez earned the win in goal, saving three shots in a shut-out, his first complete shut-out of the season. Despite taking more shots with 17, the Gorloks only placed three on target.
