KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team trailed only 8-7 after three periods but Carthage scored five fourth quarter goals to get a 13-8 win in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament championship game at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis., on Saturday, May 7.
The Titans are 13-5 this season while Carthage improved to 10-9 and, with no automatic bids from the conference, both teams will await word on a possible at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship as the full national field will be announced on Sunday, May 8, at 9 p.m. Central time via

James Maibuecher each had one goal as IWU outshot the Red Men, 46-37 with a 28-25 advantage on shots on goal.

In a seesaw game, the Titans led 7-6 with 6:08 to play in the third quarter on a goal by Perry but the Red Men dominated the rest of the game, outscoring IWU 7-1 the rest of the way with Julius's unassisted tally with 1:19 remaining snapping the Titan scoring drought.
Carthage was efficient on clears, making 18 of 21 attempts and Carthage had 14 faceoff wins to 11 for IWU.
Max Porter was 9-for-19 in faceoff attempts. The Titans and Red Men each had 24 ground balls.
Illinois Wesleyan junior goalkeeper
Steven Laduzinsky made 12 saves in the contest.
