BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Limited to only four hits, the Illinois Wesleyan softball team was shutout 2-0 by Wheaton College and was eliminated from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament at IWU Softball Field on Friday, May 6.

The Titans are 30-10 while Wheaton advanced with a 29-12 record. IWU mounted a threat in the top of the seventh as senior designated hitter and freshman second baseman Julie Josten reached on singles and advanced to third and second on a sacrifice bunt by third baseman Katie Caulfield. But pinch hitter Alie Tarrant and freshman centerfielder Jillian Runyon struck out to end the threat.

Illinois Wesleyan got two hits, including a double, from Josten and singles out of senior catcher Danielle Smith and Bonds as Thunder pitcher Katie Thornton throttled IWU and struck out eight batters, all on called third strikes.

Senior starter Jenna Noland (12-4) took the loss, working 4 1/3 innings and allowing two runs on six hits with four strikeouts.
