Jarrod Juskiewicz with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to give Illinois Wesleyan a 7-6 victory over Carthage in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament on Friday, May 13 an Swanson Stadium in Moline, Ill.
The Titans staved off elimination with the win and improved to 23-18 while the Red Men saw their season end with a 19-22 mark.
Illinois Wesleyan will play the loser of the game between Augustana and North Central in an elimination contest on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. as the tournament was pushed back a day following the IWU/Carthage game on Friday. The Augie/North Central game is at 12 p.m. Saturday.
The Titans scored single runs in the first and eighth and plated four in the seventh to lead 6-1 going into the ninth inning before Carthage scored five times to even the game at 6-6. With one out in the last half, Juskiewicz singled to center field and, after a fly out,
Tim Smyk singled to center to send Juskiewicz to third. Manski then singled through the left side to chase home Juskiewicz with the game-winner.
Sophomore
Mike Plecki (3-1) pitched 1/3 of an inning to get out of a jam in the ninth and was the winning pitcher. Freshman starter
Nick Brune pitched 8 1/3 innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits with four strikeouts.

Adam Glogovsky each had two hits in a 15-hit IWU offensive attack. Cavalieri and junior catcher
Pat Mollo each had doubles and Glogovsky had a triple.
