BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Despite a home field advantage for the first round of the NCAA Division III women's soccer tournament, Illinois Wesleyan fell to Hanover College on Saturday, Nov. 12. A Hanover goal just 28 ticks into the overtime period eliminated the Titans from post-season play and vaulted the Panthers into the second round.
With the loss Illinois Wesleyan finishes their season with a record of 12-6-3. Hanover moves on to the second round and will face No. 2-ranked Trinity (Texas) [

Senior
Skyler Tomko scored her tenth goal of the season in the ninth minute of action, collecting a cross from fellow senior
Alison Seger and heading it past Hanover keeper Karlee VanDerWeele. This was the sixth time Tomko connected off a ball from Seger this season.
Tomko finishes her career with 91 points and 41 goals, while Seger concludes with 73 points, 28 goals and 17 assists. With 90 matches played Tomko is the longest tenured Titan in program history finishing with one more appearance than Seger and senior
Amanda Kaiser.

The lone goal was the extent of the Titan offense in the first half with VanDerWeele finishing with zero saves at half. Hanover placed three shots on goal in the first half including a free kick by Abby Shroyer that found the back of the net in the 28th minute to tie the match at one.
Neither team hit pay-dirt in the second half despite a handful of shot on goal. IWU placed three on goal in the second. The Titans closest opportunity came late in the game off a chance from freshman
Kaitlyn Chen. Chen attempted to finesse a ball to the far post from an odd angle but her attempt fell just wide.
Hanover scored the game-winning goal in the 91st minute of action as Anna Cornacchione collected her 15th assist of the season on a goal scored by Daria Volker.
TRINITY 2, MOUNT UNION 1: Brigitte Taylor and Yasmeen Farra scored goals to help Trinity (Texas) remain undefeated with a 21-0-0 record ... Mount Union struck first in the game, scoring in the 12th minute of action, putting Trinity behind in a game for just the second time this season ... Taylor answered with her seventh goal of the year just three minutes later as she received the ball inside the box, and fired in the goal ... Farra scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 60th minute, knocking in a rebound goal for the Tigers ... Farra leads the Tigers with 14th goals this season and also leads the team with seven game-winning goals ... Trinity outshot Mount Union 28-6 in the game, including a 16-2 advantage in the decisive second half ... Mount Union finished its season with a 12-7-3 mark.
NCAA SECOND ROUND: In the second round of the tournament, No. 2-ranked Trinity (Texas) will take on Hanover College at IWU's Neis Field on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m.
