Titans Rout Carthage 3-0 To Earn Fifth CCIW Victory

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team handedly defeated Carthage College by a final score of 3-0 on Saturday, Oct. 22. Freshman Ellie Crabtree's goal in the 10th minute proved to be all the Titans would need in the rout.

With a win the Titans improved to 9-5-2 with a 5-1 record in the CCIW. Carthage fell to 9-6-0 with a 3-3 record in the conference.

Crabtree got things started with a bang on Saturday scoring her second goal of the season off a free kick. Following her goal both teams were held scoreless for the remainder of the first half. The Lady Reds placed two shots on goal against the Titans but were unable to convert.

Senior Emily Snider found the back of the net for the first time this season in the 77th minute. IWU wasted no time adding another point to the board as senior Skyler Tomko collected a pass from senior Alison Seger in the 80th minute and slotted it home for her fifth goal of the season. Tomko has scored four goals in the Titans last four games.

Sophomore Katie Denney earned the victory in goal by making five saves en route to her seventh clean sheet of the season.

What's Next?
Next on tap for the Titans is a matchup with Augustana College. The Vikings have fallen on tough times after earning a top-25 placement earlier in the season. Augustana currently sits at 8-7, 2-4 CCIW with two games remaining in the regular season. Kick-off in Rock Island, Ill. is set for Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 5:00 p.m.
