No. 4 Titans Earn Shutout vs. No. 20 Warhawks

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The No. 4-ranked Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team jumped out to an early first-half lead before keeping No. 20-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater off the scoreboard in a 1-0 win at Neis Field on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Illinois Wesleyan won its season opener for the third time in the past five years, while the visiting Warhawks dropped to 0-1. The Titans now hold a 5-2-1 record all-time vs. Wisconsin-Whitewater after dropping last year's game in Whitewater by a score of 1-0.

IWU newcomer Emily Snider gave the Titans all the offense they would need by knocking a header past Whitewater goalkeeper Erin Doody in the 15th minute (14:01) off an Alison Seger corner kick. Illinois Wesleyan would put up 12 shots total, compared to only eight for the Warhawks.

Freshman Katie Denney made her collegiate debut in net for the Titans, making three saves and not allowing a single Wisconsin-Whitewater shot into the net to earn the shutout.

What's Next?
