Titans Rout Griffins in Men's Lacrosse, 20-3

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team held visiting Fontbonne to only one first-half goal as the Titans defeated the Griffins 20-3 at Tucci Stadium on Wednesday, April 1.

Illinois Wesleyan is now 7-4 while Fontbonne remains winless at 0-11. 

Freshman Nick Winter and sophomore Michael Julius led all scorers with five goals each while sophomore Tim Smith notched three goals. Both Winter and Julius would have two assists each while Jacob Perry (2), sophomore Evan Mok-Lamme (2), James Maibuecher (2) and Colin Daly (1) also scored goals for the Titans.  

The Titans led 6-0 after the first period and took an 15-1 lead into the locker room at halftime. IWU outscored the Griffins 5-2 in the second half and improve to 4-0 this season at Tucci Stadium.

Freshman Reagan Penner improved to 2-2 as he allowed one goal and made three saves in 30 minutes. Jordan Staley played the final 30 minutes between the pipes, allowing two goals while making four saves.

Illinois Wesleyan outshot Fontbonne, 42-34, and were successful on six-of-nine clear attempts. The Titans also held a 68-42 advantage in ground balls, winning 22 of 27 faceoffs in the match. 

What's Next?
Illinois Wesleyan will host another non-conference game, playing Concordia University (Wis.) on Saturday, April 4 with a scheduled start time of 2 p.m.
