ORLANDO, Fla. - The No.8-ranked Illinois Wesleyan softball team opened its 2015 season with wins over Wheaton (Mass.) 7-1 and St. Scholastica 8-0, at the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Fla., on Saturday, March 7.

The Titans banged out 11 hits against Wheaton as junior catcher Danielle Smith and sophomore third baseman Katie Caulfield each had two hits. Freshman outfielder Maggie Graham had a double and two runs batted in.
Senior Chloe Montgomery picked up the pitching win in relief, going four strong innings and allowing one hit while striking out four.

Eight Titans had hits in the win over St. Scholastica as the Titans took advantage of three walks, three errors and two hit batsmen. Sophomore first baseman Sarah Platt had a double and two runs batted in and Montgomery (2-0) got the victory by going three more perfect innings, striking out two.

Illinois Wesleyan has two more games in its nine-game trip on Sunday, facing Hiram at 9 a.m. Eastern and Coe at 1:30 p.m.
